- Mary Switzer Building
-
The Mary Switzer Building, in Washington D.C., was dedicated in 1973. It was formerly the building for what was then known as the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. For Mary E. Switzer's years of service to public welfare, and specifically to the championing of people with disabilities, the landmark was given her name. Currently the Mary Switzer Building is occupied by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education. A $68 million modernization of this 80-year-old federal building was scheduled for completion in 2008. The preservation and modernization of this historic building was led by GSA Design Excellence Leader, James T. Kienle, FAIA with HNTB Architects, Engineers, & Planners.
The building is located at 330 C Street, SW, Washington, DC.
