Maribel Llaudes aka Karina

María Isabel Bárbara Llaudés Santiago, best known as Karina, is a Spanish singer who had her biggest successes in the late 60s until the mid 70s. She was born in Andalusia on April 12, 1945.

Career

She recorded her first album in 1964, which was specially successful in Venezuela. She became known to the Spanish audience in 1965 with a hit version of France Gall's "Poupée de cire, poupée de son". In 1966 she was awarded the Best Yeye Singer Prize. In 1971 se took part in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "En un mundo nuevo". She was second.At the end of the yeye years she moved to Mexico where she had a moderate success singing rancheras.

* She has recently overcome a cancer.
