Entenmann's is a
bakery brand now owned byCanadian food conglomerateGeorge Weston Bakeries . In markets west of the Mississippi, it is distributed under license by the US operation ofMexican food corporationGrupo Bimbo . It was started by a German immigrant inBrooklyn in1898 , shortly thereafter establishing headquarters inBay Shore, New York onLong Island . Their cakes and snacks were formerly distributed only in theTri-State Region but are now distributed in many grocery andconvenience store locations in the United States.In Popular Culture
Entenmanns showed up in the sitcom
Seinfeld when a character,Elaine Benes , replaced an antique collectible cake from the 1937 wedding ofKing Edward VIII that she had eaten with an Entenmann's cake.Entenmann's cookies were also mentioned in an act of comedian, Dane Cook, where he recalled eating them in a grocery aisle while listening to an overheard argument.
