- Persona (satellite)
Persona is a new class of
Russia nreconnaissance satellite s. It is derived from theResurs DK class of remote sensing satellite, itself derived from the Soviet Yantar reconnaissance satellite. The satellites are built by TsSKB Progress, and the optics byLOMO and Vavilov Institute. The first satellite was launched into a 750 km
sun synchronous orbit on 26 July 2008, atop a Soyuz-2.1bcarrier rocket from LC-43/4 at the at thePlesetsk Cosmodrome [http://www.spaceflightnow.com/news/n0807/26soyuz/]Satellite mass is 6500 kg, length is 7 meters and diameter is 2.7 meters.
Optical subsystem is probably based on a 3-mirror Korsch type telescope with primary mirror diameter of 1.5 meters and focal length of 20 meters. [http://lomo-tech.ru/photos/lomo_kosm_otkr.pdf] Diffraction pattern of this telescope indicate that pixel size of TDI CCD senzor is 12 µm or 6 µm. CCD manufacturer is ELECTRON-OPTRONIC (now is a ELAR [http://www.npp-elar.ru/tdi.html] ). Focal plane unit manufacturer is NPO Opteks.
Image resolution (at
nadir ) is 0.4 meterpanchromatic .Planned mission duration is 7 years.
