"Blueprint for Survival" is a 1972 book written by Edward Goldsmith, editor of "The Ecologist" at the time, along with its editorial board.

It was first printed in "The Ecologist" in January 1972.

The book argues society must be completely restructured in order to improve the health of the planet. It recommends that people live in small, decentralised communities. The authors give four reasons for this opinion:
*it is too difficult to enforce moral behaviour in a large community
*agricultural and business practices are more likely to be ecologically sound in smaller communities
*people feel more fulfilled in smaller communities
*reducing an area's population reduces the environmental impact. [cite book
