Hugh de Audley (ca. 1250 – ca. 1336) was a member of the
Audley-Stanley family and the father ofHugh de Audley, 1st Earl of Gloucester .Lineage
He was born in
Audley in the English County ofStaffordshire , the son ofJames of Aldithley (born c.1225 in Audley,Staffordshire ) andEla Longspee (daughter ofWilliam II Longespee , and his great great grandfather was therefore Henry II, King of England.Family
He married
Isolda de Mortimer , the daughter ofHugh de Mortimer , grandson ofLlywelyn the Great by whom he had a daughter,Alice de Audley (born c.1304 inEngland ), who married Ralph Fitzrobert de Greystoke and later, in 1326, Sir Ralph de Neville.He also had two sons, John and Hugh, who became 1st Earl of Gloucester.* John de Aldithley (Audley) born circa 1293
