John George Hughes

John George Hughes was the ninth Suffragan Bishop of Kensington [Who’s Who London, A & C Black,1992 ISBN 0713635142] . He was born on 30 January 1935 [ Debrett's People of Today: Ed Ellis,P (1992, London, Debtrett's ISBN 1870520092] and educated at Queens’ College, Cambridge. Ordained in 1961 he began his career with a Curacy in Brighouse [ Crockford's clerical directory 1975:Lambeth, Church House, 1975 ISBN 0108153674] and was then successively Vicar of St John’s, Clifton [ [http://www.acny.org.uk/venue.php?V=18002 Church web-site] ] , "Director of Education" within the Diocese of Wakefield , Secretary of the "Advisory Council for the Church’s Ministry" and Warden of St. Michael's College, Llandaff before ascending to the Episcopate -a post he held from 1987 until his death on 19 August 1994. s-start
