Gainesville Raceway is a quarter-mile
dragstrip inGainesville, Florida . It opened in 1969 and is most famous for hosting the NHRA's prestigiousGatornationals event since 1970. road course designed for vehicle testing and driving schools. The General Manager of Gainesville Raceway is Don Robertson.Gainesville Raceway is also home to the
ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals . One of the most prestigious events in all of Drag Racing due to the many legends who have won the event and the records that were set at the event. Among many records and firsts set at the event are the first 260, 270, 300 MPH Top Fuel Dragster runs, the first 6.5 second Pro Stock Car run, and the first 6 second Pro Stock Motorcycle run. In 2009 the Gatornationals will enter its 40th annual event scheduled for March 12-15 which makes it the fourth oldest active event on the NHRA Professional tour.Gainesville Raceway also hosts many other special events on an annual basis including a Lucas Oil Divsion 2 Race, a NHDRA event and the TV show Pinks makes annual visits to the raceway. This in addition to weekly racing during the spring, winter and fall.
