The Democratic Party (Abbreviation: DEP) in the Republic of Korea was formed on 17 February 2008 by the merger of the United New Democratic Party with the Democratic Party (민주당). This was four years after the Our Uri Party (열린우리당), from which the United New Democratic Party evolved, had split from the Millennium Democratic Party (새천년민주당).
