- Sulfur Springs
Sulfur Springs is a popular tourist attraction found inSoufrière ,Saint Lucia . In fact, the town of Soufrière got its name from the sulfur mining in the 1800s. Sulfur Springs was a formerly active dome volcano that had its last major eruption 40,000 years ago. It's last minor eruption occurred in 1780. The volcano's dome collapsed many years ago to form a convert|7|acre|m2|sing=oncaldera . Although there has not been an eruption for over 200 years, sulfur still billows from the cracks in the caldera. Also, there are active boiling mud pits around the area.
