October 2007 marked the beginning of the 9th Season of “Remote Planet”.
Written and produced in Ottawa with a core team of extremely talented comedic writers and voice actors, Remote Planet has been making fun of local, national, international, and surreal issues since 1999. As well, Remote Planet has put a new twist on the old-style of radio-plays. Several times a year the show produces a full half-hour "left of centre" radio epics.
Remote Planet, the brainchild of impresario Chris Laursen, started as a mixed music, talk, and comedy show. In 2004, the show was streamlined from 1 hour, to a half hour format and the group decided to focus on what it did best – comedy. With many memorable characters such as “Max Kreeping”, “Snoozy Suzy”, "Lester and Onion" and “Candida & Geneva” as well as recurring skits such as “Kanata 9-1-1”, the writers of Remote Planet never hesitate to poke fun at some of Ottawa’s (and Canada's) most beloved people and places.
Now, in the 2007/2008 season, Remote Planet has a fan-base that ranges from British Columbia to Nova Scotia thanks to CKCU’s live streaming [http://www.ckcufm.com] and Remote Planet’s website ( [www.remoteplanet.ca] ) which allows fans to download and listen to past shows.
