Guernsey Telecoms (GT) was the trading name of the telephone service provided by the
States of Guernsey Telecommunications Board, a department of the government ofGuernsey .Guernsey Telecoms was originally founded on
17 June 1896 as the States Telephone Department to "establish, maintain and operate" an independent telephone system for the island which would have a maximum of 400 subscribers. 30 May 2002 , it was sold toCable & Wireless in a deal worth £30 million. The telephone kiosks, previously painted yellow with white window frames, were repainted a bright blue colour shortly afterwards.From
