Apollo High School offers a variety of social, athletic, musical, dramatic, and academic clubs to meet the needs of their diverse student body.
ACT / SAT Prep Classes
The ACT/SAT Prep Class is a three-week class offered once a semester and sponsored by Ruben Miranda. Designed to help juniors and seniors prepare for the taking the ACT and SAT, the class acquaints students with the test format, teaches strategies for working through each of the test sections, and gives students practice by using real test questions.
Students become acquainted with the test format, learn strategies for working through each of the various test sections and practice using real test questions. The class is offered once each semester from 7–7:55 A.M.
Asian Awareness Club
The Asian Awareness Club strives to establish an atmosphere for students who are interested in Asian culture to come together and share ideas, as well, as explore a variety of other cultures. The club is sponsored by Niya Gima and is open to any Apollo student.
Art Club
The award-winning Art Club is sponsored by Barbara Dahlstedt and Julie Allred and promotes the artists and the appreciation of art on the AHS campus.
Best Buddies
The Best Buddies Program is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships. There are three membership types: buddies, peer buddies and associated members. The program is sponsored by Christie Watson and Sue Seymour.
Close Up Washington DC
Close Up Washington DC is a week-long trip that provides students the opportunity to experience the political process firsthand in the nation's capital. Students in good standing may travel to meet congressmen and other students from all over the the United States. The club is sponsored by Sabrina Lumm.
DECA
Students who are enrolled in Marketing or Advanced Marketing classes may join DECA. They compete in regional, state-wide and national leadership conferences Sponsored by Bill Cohen, the club is active in the community and sponsors a student union know as "The Room".
Within the DECA realm, there is DECA-Junior. In order to join, students must be enrolled in business classes and have a desire to learn more about marketing.
Drama Club
Sponsored by Alyssa McMichael, the Drama Club is an after school extra-curricular club . The Drama Club focuses on theatre activities that promote teamwork, acting skills, and public speaking skills. The focuses on such topics as Adopt-a-family, audition workshops, theatre games, and improv activities.ELIGIBILITY: The club is open to all students at Apollo.
Environmental Awareness Club
The Environmental Awareness Club strives to raise awareness of environmental issues. They maintain a public bulletin board, sponsor environmental causes (Such as Adopt a Manatee), and take field trips. The club is sponsored by David Devlin.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)FCA is a student led campus club and is part of the national organization that has been on middle school, high school and college campuses for over 50 years. Students are encouraged to strive to be more like Jesus Christ and demonstrate their faith both in and out of the sporting arena. The FCA supports all of athletic teams by providing them Gatorade and encouragement. All students are eligible to join and the club is led by Brett Irwin.
French Club
The French Club is led by Jackie Ohligshlaeger, meets once a month, and focuses on French Cuisine. At each meeting, students prepare an authentic French recipe and enjoy with other club members..
Future Educators of America (FEA)The FEA, led by Jennifer Aikman, is open to anyone interested in a career in teaching or working with children. The club meets to discuss various aspects of teaching and provides the community a valuable service with tutoring opportunities. This club also nominates the Teachers of the Month to recognize outstanding teachers.
Guitar club
The Guitar club Originally Led by Aj Rodriguez Known for winning the Talent show three years in a row(and also losing and winning the 08 talent show at the same time)is now led Nate Chapman.The club mostly focus' on teaching and Educating any student interested in the Guitar. The club is hoping for more exposure in the coming years and has high hopes for musical activities at the school.
