Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly
- Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly
The Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly, also known as the Colonial Assembly, the General Assembly, or simply the Pennsylvania Assembly, was the representative branch of government in the Province of Pennsylvania. It was established in 1682 by William Penn's Frame of Government.
During the American Revolution, the Provincial Assembly was deemed too moderate by the revolutionaries, who ignored the Assembly and held a convention to write the Constitution of 1776 for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, creating a new General Assembly in the process.
