Capital Athletic Conference

The Capital Athletic Conference (or CAC) is an intercollegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA’s Division III. Member institutions are located in the eastern United States in the States of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C..

The league currently has 9 full members:

History

Formed in 1989, charter members were Catholic, Gallaudet, Mary Washington, Marymount, St. Mary's and York. Goucher joined in 1991, and Salisbury in 1993. Hood, Stevenson, and Wesley all join beginning in 2007-2008 (Hood and Stevenson having joined for some sports in the 2006-2007 season).

Catholic and Goucher left the conference in 2007-2008 to become members of the new Landmark Conference.

The CAC sponsors intercollegiate athletic competition in men's baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, women's field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women’s soccer, women's softball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and women's volleyball.
