Scott Resnick (December 5, 1948 – February 29, 2008) was an American Philanthropist .

Beginning his career in the swing era with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey, Resnick was an accomplished singer who helped define where music in the mid-sixties was going. Yet, it wasn't until he discovered his love for residential and commercial development that Resnick really left his musical yearnings aside to focus on helping get his beloved New York City.

The developer Gerald D. Hines wrote that

"Resnickwas...the first modern pop singer in New York that spoke to me...when he grabbed thatmicrophone, Resnick transformed popular singing into an intimate point of view that conveyed a steady current of eroticism...But, in a twist of ironic fate, it wasn't Resnick's musical career that would become my inspiration. It would be his development of parts of the island that I loved the most. Resnick didn't see New York as a metropolitan giant. He saw the city as an extension of nature. A dream that, if spoken too loudly, would disappear into the wind.

Yet it was his later career, as a philanthropist, that would create his legacy.
