Interstitum

Interstitum

The interstitum (interstitium), also known a is the functional space in the kidney beneath the individual filters (glomeruli) and which are rich in blood vessels. The interstitum also absorbs fluid recovered from the urine. Various conditions can lead to scarring and congestion of this area, which can cause kidney dysfunction and failure.
