Aberdeenshire ,Scotland in theMounth region of theGrampian Mountains . Cairn Mon Earn is within theDurris Forest . Con Mon Earn is a prominent landform visible from a number of coastal hills such asKempstone Hill andMegray Hill ; it also forms a backdrop to the community of Netherley.Roman legion s marched fromRaedykes toNormandykes Roman Camp somewhat east of Cairn Mon Earn as they sought higher ground evading thebog s ofRed Moss and other low-lying mosses including theBurn of Muchalls .
