The Xavier Newswire (established 1915) is an independent newspaper published weekly during the academic year by the students of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is an 8-16 page newspaper, featuring five sections: Campus News, Opinions and Editorials, Sports, Arts & Entertainment, and Calendar City (a humorous guide to the week's upcoming events at Xavier). While many of these sections and articles are very well written, topical, and controversial, 75% of Xavier students who read the Newswire do so only to see the "Police Notes" section of Campus News to read funny exploits from the previous weekend's parties and/or the "Mall Talk" section to check for one of their friends.

The Newswire was originally called "The Xavierian News" and was founded by Xavier's law school in 1915.

The staff meets to put together the paper on Tuesday nights at the Publications House. The Newswire made its color debut on January 23, 2008.

Recurring articles include professor profiles, "Ask the Experts," "Life at the Newswire," and "The Spectator." The Xavier Newswire can be found online at http://www.xavier.edu/newswire.
