Howard Butcher is a South African-based music producer whose contribution to the development of contemporary music in that country includes productions for Oddenjinears, [ [http://www.oddenjinears.co.za Oddenjinears] ] Lancaster Band, [ [http://www.lancasterband.co.za Lancaster Band] ] Jam Mecca, Tristan Waterkeyn, [ [http://www.tristanwaterkeyn.co.za Tristan Waterkeyn] ] Steve Newman, Wendy Oldfield, [ [http://www.wendyoldfield.co.za Wendy Oldfield] ] Off Shore, [ [http://www.offshorejazz.co.za Offshore Jazz] ] Silapha and many others.

A bass player whose production skills were largely influenced by analogue recording techniques he is also a renown field guide that specializes in bird-call recognition.

He is the principal engineer for Peace of Eden Recording Studio [ [http://www.edenmultimedia.co.za Eden Multimedia] ] based in Knysna on the Garden Route of South Africa. Peace of Eden pioneered the vacation-recording concept in South Africa and the facility specializes in productions for various local and international artistes.
