Tramway (arts centre)

Tramway is a contemporary visual and performing arts venue located in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is located in a former tram depot in the pollokshields area that was later used for the Glasgow Museum of Transport. Tramway is the home of the Scottish Ballet, and is claimed to be one of the leading venues of its type in Europe [ [http://www.glasgowmuseums.com/showEvent.cfm?venueid=0&itemid=787 Glasgow Museums website] ] .

It was announced in 1988, and opened in 1990 as part of the European City of Culture celebrations, with Peter Brook's The Mahabharata [Contemporary British Theatre, ed. Theordore Shank] .
