Biography
Born in Canberra, Australia, Jacobs began acting when she was 9. She was in stage productions alongside Lisa McCune and Bert Newton in The Sound of Music.[1] In the months before her death, Jacobs had taken a break from acting to focus on school and music. She was planning to attend the Victorian College of the Arts to study bass guitar and establish herself as a musician. Jacobs was in Year 12 at Sandringham College and she was six months away from finishing her VCE and graduating. After graduating from High School she was planning to move out of home and live with her older brother Adam. In addition to acting, Jacobs also played the bass in a rock band called The Volten Sins. She is featured on the The Saddle Club soundtrack and on "Friends Forever" and "Princess Veronica Tour EP" with Janelle Corlass-Brown.
In 2003 Jacobs and Corlass-Brown released a CD single for their song "Trouble" under their characters names Ashley and Melanie. Jacobs also played classical violin when she was six years old and took ballet. In addition to being an actress and a singer, Jacobs worked at a local bakery. She was a member of The Holy Trinity Anglican Church in St Kilda, Victoria, Australia.
Before the 1 year anniversary of her death, Adam Jacobs made a memorial video for her on YouTube.[1]
Death
On 10 May 2008 Jessie Jacobs was walking along the platform at Cheltenham station when she fainted - from what was later theorised by the coroner to be a heart episode - and fell onto the tracks and into the path of an oncoming train. She died instantly from her injuries when the train hit her. That day she was on the way to meet her mother so they could buy a birthday present for Adam. Jacobs was 17 at the time of her death. The police took several hours to find the family because the teenager, who was arriving home from an overnight stay with a friend, was carrying fake ID. She is buried at St Kilda Cemetery in St Kilda, Victoria.[1]
