last_aired = PresentThe "Serious" TV series is an observational documentary series made by the BBC and broadcast as part of their children's programming and produced as part of the BBC Talent initiative. It encompasses "Serious Jungle" (2002), "Serious Desert" (2003), "Serious Arctic" (2004), "Serious Amazon" (2005), "Serious Andes" (2006) and "Serious Ocean" (2008). Each series consists of six 30-minute episodes, which follow a group of eight 12- to 15-year-olds as they embark on an expedition to various exotic parts of the world, in order to help wildlife or assist in environmental projects. The programmes have won numerous awards, among them honours from BAFTA and the Royal Television Society.

The series has also been shown on Discovery Kids, where five complete seasons have been shown .

erious Jungle

Serious Jungle aired in 2002. Eight challengers faced a mission to build a feeding platform in the heart of the Borneo jungle, to save orang-utans from being illegally kept as pets. They built an orang-utan outpost in three weeks, before heading back to the UK. The Serious Jungle eight were accompanied by expedition leaders Bruce Parry and Emma Jay.

erious Amazon

Serious Amazon aired in 2006, and had a then-record of 29,000 12- to 15-year-olds auditioning for a part. The chosen team of eight left for South America on 9th July 2005, with a mission to help rare Uakari monkeys and Pink River Dolphins caught in illegal fishing nets in the Amazon River. The team of eight removed the illegal fishing nets to leave the dolphins safe, and also built habitats for the Bald Uakari. The Serious Amazon eight were accompanied by expedition leaders Ben Major and Polly Murray.

Robyn celebrated her 13th birthday at the beginning of their epic 4 week journey.

Awards
