Hilde Schramm (born 1936) is a German politician. Internationally she is most known as the daughter of
Albert Speer , who was a member ofAdolf Hitler 's inner circle and theThird Reich 's ChiefArchitect . He served twenty years in prison forcrimes against humanity afterWorld War II .As a teenager, Schramm was awarded a competitive scholarship to study in the United States. The US government initially refused her a visa, but reversed its decision in the face of publicity, including offers of hospitality from several families (some of them
Jew ish).Schramm became a prominent
Europe an political figure who distinguished herself for helping victims ofanti-semitism and Nazi atrocities. She is also apublisher andsociologist . In 1994, she was awarded theMoses Mendelssohn Award fromBerlin for her work. Schramm is active in politics, and has been a leader of the Green Party in Berlin.
