The Yeshiva Gedola of Bridgeport is a Jewish study institution in
Bridgeport, Connecticut based in the Agudas Achim Synagogue on Arlington Street. The Yeshiva began inMonsey, New York with the study rooms housed within the building of the Ohr Somayach, an established school there.The Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Simcha Bunim Berger, was born in
Montreal ,Canada and raised inLos Angeles, California . He studied inIsrael for 15 years, and then moved to Monsey to fulfill his dream of starting aYeshiva .The Yeshiva has been very successful so far, with six Rebbeim, nearly 50 full time students and four separate dormitories. The school plans to expand their physical building after recently gaining the deeds to the land they are on, from the
Synagogue .The school has breathed new life into the old local Jewish community, and is slowly expanding, especially thanks to the Yeshiva's
Kollel program.The Fairfield County Community
Kollel has been a warmly welcomed addition to the Yeshiva. It has made inroads to the greater Jewish community in an effort to share Torah study and Jewish experiences with Jews of all walks.History
Rabbi Berger is the Rosh Yeshiva. Yeshiva Gedola started in Monsey and then moved to Bridgeport in 2005.
