Enzo de Muro Lomanto (
April 11 ,1902 ,Canosa di Puglia -February 15 ,1952 ,Naples ) was an Italian operatictenor , particularly associated with the lyric repertory.Born Vincenzo de Muro, he studied in
Naples , adding "Lomanto" to his name to avoid confusion with another tenor, Bernardo De Muro. He made his debut atCatanzaro , as Alfredo, in 1925. Shortly afterwards, he appeared at theSan Carlo in Naples, as Cavaradossi.The year 1928 saw his
La Scala , Milan, debut as Tonio. He would sing there until 1943. He also appeared at theParis Opera in 1936, as Duca di Mantua, and at theMaggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, in Hoffmann, in 1938.De Muro Lomanto possessed an attractive, lyrical voice and was particularly admired in
Bellini andDonizetti roles, but also in works byCilea and certainVerdi andPuccini operas. He also took part in the creation ofGiordano 's "Il Re", at La Scala, in 1929. De Muro Lomanto made a number of records and can be heard in the first complete recording of "Lucia di Lammermoor ", oppositeMercedes Capsir .He was married to the lyric soprano
Toti dal Monte , whom he had wed in Sydney, Australia, during a 1928 operatic tour.ources
