Heerodden helicopter accident was an incident on March 30, 2008 when a Russian Mi-8 helicopter crashed during landing on Heerodden helicopter base outside Barentsburg (a Russian settlement on Svalbard). The captain, the navigator and a passenger were killed and three people were injured. Six people survived the crash. The cause of the accident is probably weather conditions.

The Governor of Svalbard immediately sent medical personnel from Longyearbyen to Barentsburg to assist the Barentsburg medical staff. Two of the three were seriosly wounded and were airlifted to Longyearbyen. The crew and the passengers were Russian and Ukraninan.
