Range of Chilotherium based on fossil distribution Chilotherium is an extinct genus of rhinoceros endemic to Eurasia and Asia during the Miocene through Pliocene living for 13.7—3.4 mya, existing for approximately 10.3 million years.[1] They are known for their large, protruding lower canine teeth.
Taxonomy
Chilotherium was named by Ringström (1924). It was assigned to Rhinocerotidae by Carroll (1988); to Aceratheriini by Antoine and Saraç (2005); and to Chilotheriini by Deng (2005).
