Raphael Honigstein

Raphael Honigstein, a native of Bavaria, is a German journalist and author. [ [http://www.guardian.co.uk/profile/raphaelhonigstein Honigstein at the Guardian] ] He is the English football correspondent for the German newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung", and German football correspondent for the British newspaper "The Guardian" and the UK radio broadcast talkSPORT. He occasionally appears on the Guardian Podcast Football Weekly, hosted by James Richardson, where he gives updates on German football - he is also notable on the podcast for his dry humour. He has also worked as a German football expert for Sky TV, alongside host Alan McInally, and more recently on Setanta's coverage of the Bundesliga. Also on Setanta he has appeared on The Friday Football Show, and on Setanta Sports News, again discussing German football issues.

His book on the peculiarities of English football, "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Die geheime Geschichte des englischen Fußballs", was published in German by Kiepenheuer & Witsch in 2006, and the book is due for publication in English, by Random House, in 2008.
