Atlanta, Georgia , there are 6 "patrol zones" (more commonly known as just "zones") which lie under the jurisdiction of the Field Operations Division of theAtlanta Police Department . They are similar to theWards of New Orleans in that many Atlantans refer to where they are from in the city by using the zone numbers; however, this practice is not as commonplace in Atlanta as it is in New Orleans. Some rappers from Atlanta have been known to state what zone they are from in their lyrics.
