Victor Payne was a head college basketball and football coach. He coached football at Abilene Christian College and Simmons University. He coached basketball at Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University).

Abilene Christian and Hardin-Simmons

Payne coached the Abilene Christian Wildcats during the 1922 and 1923 football seasons. Texas Tech

Payne coached the Texas Tech Matadors (now known as the Red Raiders) from 1927 to 1930. The following season, the record was slightly worse at 9–8. During his final season, the team improved to 13–6.
