They are a member of the International Hockey League and play their home games atPerani Arena and Event Center inFlint, Michigan . Flint has been home to minor pro hockey in some incarnation since 1969, except a one year break in the 90-91 season. This incarnation of the Flint Generals came about in the 1993-1994 season, after Flint Bulldogs ownerSkip Probst moved the Bulldogs from Flint toUtica, NY . Flint has won two Colonial Cup championships in the 13 year existence they've had in the UHL, the first against Thunder Bay in the 1995-1996 season, and the second in a 4-0 sweep of theQuad City Mallards in the 2000 playoffs. The 2000 Flint Generals team is generally acknowledged to be one of the best in minor pro history Fact|date=February 2007 ; it was coached by former NHLerDoug Shedden and included former Toronto Maple LeafBobby Reynolds , former Detroit Red WingMark Major , former Edmonton OilerNick Stajuhar , two 100 point scorers in Ross Wilson andDon Parsons , UHL Defenseman of the YearGary Roach , high flying late season additionsCory Cyrenne andVladmir Serov , and goalie Mark Richards. Serov and Cyrenne totaled 60 points in 37 regular season games, and in the 2000 finals, Serov scored the game winning goal with 50 seconds left in game three, and the game winning goal with 3:52 left in game 4 to preserve the victories of the Generals.Unfortunately, due to roster shakeups and instability in the coaching staff, the Generals have lost their championship caliber in recent years. Their success still remains, as they have finished below .500 only three times in 14 years, and have only missed the playoffs three times in that same span.
