The airline was established and started operations in
1992 . It was established from theAeroflot Kiev division, with other Ukrainian divisions merged to it. It was declaredbankrupt by its owner, the Ukrainian government, in December2002 and was being restructured. Plan was to merge Air Ukraine,Aerosvit Airlines andUkraine International Airlines as new Air Ukraine and flag carrier for the country. Plan failed and their operating license was removed.
