Faerie Lord

Faerie Lord is the final book in the Faerie Wars series by Irish Author Herbie Brennen

Plot Summary

Henry Atherton has been living in the human realm for two years. His life would be considered miserable when his old friend Pyrgus and his wife Nymphalis show up at Henry's old employer's house. Pyrgus has aged greatly when it is revealed a disease called Temporal Fever has spread through The Realm causing faeries aging process to speed up killing a child within a year. Pyrgus has caught it and Henry's old employer Mr. Fogarty has also.Henry must travel to The Realm and persuade Mr.Fogarty to return to the Human Realm were the disease has no effect.

Henry travels to the Realm and speaks to Mr.Fogarty before he passes on into death.Henry travels to the Portal room unaware of Mr. Fogarty's passing. Henrys old love, Empress Holy Blue, enters and tells Henry of Mr. Fogarty's passing.

It is then revealed that Blue's most valued agent, Madame Cardui, transports Henry to an unknown location before Henry and Blue could talk properly. For this Blue has Madame Cardui sent to her chambers under house arrest.

Madame Cardui escapes from house arrest, while Pyrgus, Blue's older brother, prepares to leave on a flyer.Blue stops Pyrgus and follows him until he has no choice but to allow her to come with him, leaving their younger brother Prince Comma as the ruler of the Realm.

While this is happening a demonologist called Silas Brimestone and his old business partner, Jasper Chalkhill, transport precious cargo out of the Realm into Bunther ,a wasteland country, to get away from Lord Hairstreak, Comma's uncle on his mothers side. Silas brings the cargo to a secret place in Bunther called the Mountains of Madness. When the cargo is in place within the mountain Silas summons a mighty beast called The Midgard Serpent who then subsequntly attacks Chalkhill.

Pyrgus arrives at Madame Cardui's late husband's mansion where Madame Cardui explain that she transported Henry away because her lover, Mr. Fogarty, had a vision in which Henry discovers the cure for Temporal Fever while he had a fever. The only catch is that Mr. Fogarty also had a second vision where Henry doesn't find the cure and the Realm and the whole Faerie World became infected.

At Madame Cardui's mansion Pyrgus and Madame Cardui enter into discussion about Blue appearing with Pyrgus as it wasn't in Mr Fogarty's vision creating a alternative future where the finding of the cure to Temporal Fever is uncertain.

In Bunther Henry appears in a Vaettir's lair. Henry is attacked and only escapes from it by ripping down a curtain to let natural light in. Henry wanders aimlessly in the desert until he passes out.Henry awakes hours later to be in the care of a blue skinned boy called Lorquin who helps Henry recover.

In return for this act of kindness, Lorquin requests for Henry to become his Companion to kill The Draugr, the mother of the Vaettirs.

Henry and Lorquin proceed and are successful in the killing of the Draugr. Lorquin brings Henry back to his people the Luchti's secret city under the Bunther desert. Henry lives in the desert for a few days until he receives a message from Mr. Fogarty using the Luchti's Chraraxes. The message tells Henry to travel to the Mountains of Madness to save Blue from the Midgard Serpent.

Henry travels to the Mountains of Madness with Lorquin guiding him as Henry's Companion. They confront the Midgard Serpent, which has turned into a dragon by Loki. With the help of Blue, Henry is able to send the Midgard Serpent back to its reality with a war hammer. After defeating the Midgard Serpent it is revealed that an angel was responsible for causing the Temporal Fever due to its strain on reality. Henry releases the angel and all of those who had Temporal Fever revert back to their original age.

After the events, Henry gathers the courage to propose to Blue, in which she accepts.
