Princes Highway in the suburb of Gymea, in theSutherland Shire ,Sydney , next to GymeaTAFE . It is a technology oriented, public and co-educational high school inNew South Wales . Gymea Technology High School achieves above average marks in both theSchool Certificate (SC) and theHigher School Certificate (HSC). It has been recognised as an outstanding school in technology by theNew South Wales Department of Education and Training andApple Computer . Gymea Technology High School also performs well in many other academic activities, such as public speaking, debating, sport andUNSW school competitions.Gymea THS was opened in 1963 and has been a technology oriented secondary school since it first opened.School Site
More than half the area of the school site is devoted to playing fields and tennis courts as well as other outdoor areas for use by students.Recent AU$800,000 renovations have seen the surface of the quadrangle resurfaced and other facilities improved. There are shaded area's for students to sit during the summer months and open area's for ball games such as handball as well as soccer, football and basketball. A school canteen is provided for students to use before school, recess and lunch.
Faculties
Computing Studies
Computer Studies is taught in Years 7 and 8. It can then be chosen as an elective for Years 9 and 10. In Years 11 and 12, students can choose from Information Technology (VET), Information Process And Technology, Software Design and Development. The school has 6 computer rooms in total with these evenly split between Macs and PC. The 3 Mac rooms are running Mac OS X 10.4 and the 3 PC rooms are running Windows XP. Nearly all computer rooms have access to a colour printer with all having access to B&W printers and scanners.
LOTE
Language is compulsory in Years 7 and 8 and it is taught as an elective for Years 9-12. Languages taught include French and Japanese.
English
English is the only subject which is compulsory throughout the entire duration of a student's enrollment at Gymea THS.All levels of English are taught at Gymea THS, which includes Standard and Advanced English, plus two extension levels.
Music
Gymea THS has a wide range of musical programs and facilities, and have recently being able to purchase a grand piano and portable staging as well as upgrades to the school audio equipment funded by a Federal Government grant.

The school has 5 classrooms which serve as science laboratories. Science is compulsory up to the end of Year 10. In Years 11 and 12, science is optional and is taught in the subjects
Chemistry ,Physics ,Biology and Senior Science.Mathematics
Mathematics is compulsory at Gymea THS up until the end of Year 10. In Years 11 and 12, Mathematics is taught in both General and Advanced Maths, plus two extension levels for those who wish to pursue the study of maths further.
