Rani Chandra

Rani Chandra was a Malayalam film actress who died in a plane crash in 1976. She cast in the films Nellu(Malayalam, 1974), Batrakali(Tamil, 1976) and Swapnadanam (Malayalam, 1976).

Rani Chandra played the major role on the very popular Tamil cinema song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlV1DKx5Fz0&feature=related "Kannan Oru Kaikolanthai"] in the film "Batrakali".

Death

She died in a plane crash. She was returning from USA after a cultural programme with her younger brother. While landing at Madras airport in a Indian Airlines plane, the plane crashed on landing. All the passengers and crew died in the crash.

As her death occurred during unfinished portion of the movie Bhardrakali, the director A.C. Trilogachander shot the climax with a body double who was close resemblance to Rani Chandra and finished the movie by using some already shot close-up shots of the dead actress and using long shot for the dupe.
