Radhames Dykhoff

Radhames Dykhoff

Radhames Alviro Dykhoff (born September 27, 1974 in Paradera, Aruba) was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles organization. Radhames Dykhoff was spotted and signed to his first contract, (as an amateur free agent) by Orioles scout Jesus "Chu" Halab on January 6, 1993, along with his cousin, Sidney Ponson [Radhames Dykhoof Statistics, http://www.baseball-reference.com/d/dykhora01.shtml] . After starring in the minor leagues for a few years, he finally made it to the big leagues for a brief stint with the Baltimore Orioles in 1998. On June 7, 1998, Radhames became the fourth Aruban to ever appear in the major leagues. Sadly, while the other three have since been knighted in their native land (by Aruban governor Olindo Koolman), this honor has, to date, eluded Radhames. A southpaw, Radhames lasted just one inning, giving up 2 hits, a walk, while striking a single batter out. He allowed 2 earned runs, giving him a gaudy career earned run average of 18.00, and wore the number 28 on his jersey [ [http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/player.php?p=dykhora01 Radhames Dykhoff Baseball Stats by Baseball Almanac ] ] . He was still hoping to get back to the big leagues as late as 2000, when he was signed to a 1 year minor-league contract by the Orioles on March 1. He was optioned to the Orioles AAA farm club in Rochester on the 28th of that month. Just a few days later, on April 6, 2000, he was claimed off waivers by the New York Mets. In the 2000 season, he appeared in a combined 49 games for the Mets AA (Binghamton Mets)and AAA (Norfolk Tides) farm clubs, but wasn't called up to the major league squad [Ultimate Mets Database - Radhames Dykhoff, http://ultimatemets.com/profile.php?PlayerCode=3H34] . Since then, he has disappeared from public view. Dykhoff is 6'1" and had a listed playing weight of 210 lbs [ [http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/6024/ SI.com - Major League Baseball - Radhames Dykhoff Player Page ] ] . The name Radhames is derived from the Latin term for the color red. Dykhoff has six rare baseball cards [ [http://www.sportscardsource.com/baseball/cards/playercards/DYKR01/Radhames-Dykhoff/1.php Radhames Dykhoff Baseball Card Checklist - Sports Card Source ] ]
