1994 Individual Speedway World Championship

Overseas Series

Riders from the Commonwealth and North America competed. The 16 riders in the Overseas Final were composed of 10 from the Commonwealth Final, and 5 from the American Final. Sam Ermolenko, the defending World Champion, received a bye through the American Final, and went in at the Overseas Final stage. The top 9 in the Overseas Final advanced to the World Semi Finals.

Commonwealth Series

Riders from Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain competed. The 16 riders in the Commonwealth Final were composed of 10 from Great Britain, 4 from Australia, and 2 nominated riders from New Zealand. The top 10 in the Commonwealth Final advance to the Overseas Final.
