Agatha ( _bg. Агата) was a Bulgarian Empress, wife of Emperor Samuil.

Biography

According to the Byzantine historian John Scylitzes Agatha was born in Larisa and her father, John Chrisilius was a governor of Drach (modern Durrës in Albania).

It is assumed that she married Samuil in the 70s of the 10th century.

They had several daughters, probably four, and the names of three of them are known - Theodora Kosara ["Кой кой е в средновековна България", изд. 7. ISBN 9544020470] and Katun Anastazya. They also had a son, Gavril Radomir. 7 и 66. ISBN 9544020470]

Agatha is one of the central characters in Dimitar Talev's novel "Samuil".
