Sowar (magazine)

"Sowar" is a magazine about photojournalism and documentary photography.

The focus of topics in Sowar magazine is mainly on events, cultures, individuals and scenes in Lebanon, the Middle East and the Gulf regions. The work of international photographers and photojournalists is presented in themes (or photo essays) – a series of pictures about a specific topic. The magazine is picture-intensive, with most of the photos taking up the entire double spreads of the magazine’s pages.

Sowar magazine is published in Beirut, Lebanon. It launched in 2007, and is issued 6 times per year. Tagline

The magazine’s tagline is “A picture with a few words is worth a million,” and it first appeared in the editorial of the first issue. It is a spin on the well-known adage that “A picture is worth a thousand words.”

Special Edition

In its third issue (Jun/ Jul 2008), Sowar Magazine published a special edition about the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) as part of a "Let us not Forget" campaign. This was published in response to the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_conflict_in_Lebanon 2008 conflict in Lebanon] that nearly brought the country to the brink of another Civil War.
