Alexander Nelson Hood, 4th Viscount Bridport, 7th Duke of Bronté (known as Alex Bridport) (b. 17 March 1948) is a British-born investment banker. He is a direct descendant of William Nelson, 1st Earl Nelson, elder brother of Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson
Education
Hood was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England, and at the Sorbonne, Paris, France.
Work
After the Sorbonne, Bridport joined the investment company Kleinwort Benson based in London, before going on to Chase Manhattan Bank and with it moved to Geneva in 1985 to be General Manager of Investment Banking. He was appointed Managing Director of Shearson Lehman Brothers, New York, in 1988. He set up Bridport & Cie S.A. with Thomas Bartholdi in 1991; they both remain Managing Partners.
Titles
Bridport is the son of Rowland Arthur Herbert Nelson Hood, 3rd Viscount Bridport of Cricket St. Thomas and Sheila Jeanne Agatha van Meurs.
On 25 July 1969, Hood succeeded to the titles of:
* 6th Baron Bridport;
* 4th Viscount Bridport of Cricket St. Thomas, county Somerset, and of Bronte, in the Kingdom of Italy;
* Duca di Bronté (Sicily)
Family
He married Linda Jacqueline Paravicini on 5 January 1972; they were divorced in 1979.
* Son: Hon. Peregrine Alexander Nelson Hood (b. 30 Aug 1974)
He married Nina Lincoln on 5 December 1979; they were divorced in 1999.
* Son: Hon. Anthony Nelson Hood (b. 7 Jan 1983)
