Astraea Nunatak

Astraea Nunatak (coord|71|59|S|70|25|W|) is a nunatak 6 miles (10 km) south of Staccato Peaks in southern Alexander Island. Mapped from trimetrogon air photography taken by Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947-48, and from survey by Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), 1948-50. Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) after one of the asteroids lying between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
