May 29 1850 –August 6 1915 ) was anAustria nchemist .Goldschmiedt was born in
Triest ,Austria but studied in Germany at theUniversity of Frankfurt , he went back to Austria in 1869 and studied at theUniversity of Vienna . In 1871 he changed to theUniversity of Heidelberg , where he received his Ph.D for work withRobert Wilhelm Bunsen . For a postdoc he joined the laboratory ofAdolf von Baeyer at theUniversität Straßburg . He became professor at theUniversity of Vienna in 1890, later at theGerman Charles-Ferdinand University in Prague in 1892, but returned to theUniversity of Vienna in 1911. He received the Lieben Prize in 1892. Goldschmiedt died inGainfarn . He studied the structure of natural products, for examplePapaverine andScutellarine .External links
