- Woodcutter trail
Woodcutter Trail is situated at the heart of
Singapore and it is also within the vicinity ofUpper Pierce Reservoir . It is commonly known as one of the toughest trail in Singapore and famously known for its notoriously multiple trails that spirals around in the forested area.It is hard and tedious to locate the entrance leading into woodcutter trail. Apparently, many have attempted but to no avail. While some have successfully located the entrance, their part of story has been a great insight to all hikers.
The entrance of it is located along the long-winding road that leads to the reservoir. This road, known for its terrain, has several slopes that makes it difficult for hikers and alike to pave the way to the reservoir.
Along the road, one should be able to encounter signs that prominently demand an attention from all drivers and passer-bys. On the right side of it, there are many "Living Firing - danger" signs to signal passer-bys the danger in the forested area. From the entrance, within 30-45 minutes, hikers should be able to encounter a "No Bicycle" sign behind a "Living Firing - danger" signboard. That is the entrance that leads into woodcutter trail.
Predominantly, there are many markings, e.g. white tap and painted arrows on the bark of trees, along the way in woodcutter trail to the exit at Zhenghua Park. Apparently, there are many exits and entrances that leads into woodcutter trail. It is wise and applicable to conduct research into it prior to the trip.
Unfortunately, since the erection of the "No Cycling" at the trail's entrance, it has sadly on the contrary pointed the once obscure trail to even more irresponsible cyclists and since then, expats & local cyclist alike have resulted in significant damage to the trail.
Aquatic wild-life, naturally fallen foliage, streams & footpath have a suffered to a large extent.
