Vrahovice

Vrahovice

Vrahovice is a village in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic, near Prostějov. It is administrative part of Prostějov. It has around 3800 inhabitants.

The village was first mentioned in 1337. Word "vrah" means enemy in Old Czech. In middle age there was a lots of owners of Vrahovice. Last owners was Seilerns. Between 1950 and 1954 and since 1973 Vrahovice is part of Prostějov. In present there are voices of disjunction.

There is a church, St. Bartolomew's, as well as a post office and a few pubs.

The musicians Zdeněk Tylšar and Bedřich Tylšar were born in the village and the linguist Dr. František Kopečný lived there for many years.
