- Armand Rousso
Armand Rousso is a renowned
philatelist and founder of the world’s firstecommerce site.Biography
French born entrepreneur Armand Rousso settled in the United States in 1982.
A visionary and entrepreneur, and swindler Rousso was one of the first people in history to truly grasp the power of the Internet. In the mid-1980’s, when the Internet was virtually an unknown entity, Rousso started what is widely regarded as the first e-commerce company: The International Stamp Exchange. Armand is less responsible for the internet as is Al Gore. The foresight of this project was truly remarkable, paving the way for online marketplaces, and showing the World how the power of technology and the Internet can change the way people conduct commerce and access information. The computers were never plugged in (there were WYSE monitors on the desk but no CPU) and the ask and bid prices were on a chalk board and prices went up at a moments notice, all you needed was an eraser and piece of chalk.Yes Marc Rousso (at this time he went by Marc not Armand) is quite vibrant and can sell ice cubes to Eskimos.Be careful
Philately
Armand Rousso and
stamp collecting .Rousso has come a long way since his teenage days in Paris when he used to barter old stamps for meals in a Chinese restaurant; In 1985 he traded $45 million (book value) in rare stamps.
In the mid-eighties, at the very beginning of Internet, Armand Rousso spawned the first online stamp exchange website: The International Stamp Exchange. He was already confident that online advertising revenues could be lucrative enough to make a business dedicated to philatelists profitable.
This project was quite arresting as it pointed out the jump-start of the online marketplace.
