Iteris is a technology company that focuses onthe development and application of technologies to reduce trafficcongestion, minimize the environmental impact of traffic congestion and improvethe safety of surface transportation systems. Iteris offers a range ofIntelligent Transportation Systems and driver safety solutions combining outdoor image processing, traffic engineering and information technology. Iteris is headquartered in Santa Ana, California with officesthroughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

History

In 1993, Iteris’ engineers used video image processingto introduce [http://www.iteris.com/vvd.aspx Vantage] , Iteris’ first commercial vehicle detection productto address the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) market. In the late 1990s,Iteris acquired the transportation systems business of Rockwell International Corp.,Meyer, Mohaddes Associates, a Traffic Engineering and ITS Consulting firmbased in Los Angeles, and certain assets of the Washington D.C.-based consultingfirm of Viggen Corporation.

At the same time, Iteris developed and went into production with the world’s firstcommercially available LaneDeparture Warning (LDW) System which was soon deployed oncommercial trucks in Europe and the U.S. Within four years, the first passenger carsto offer LDW became available in the U.S.

Products and Services

Video Detection

Iteris applies video detection to a range of traffic management applications, including both intersection control and highway management systems. Image processing technology is used in the [http://www.iteris.com/vvd.aspx Vantage] product line to detect vehicle presence, count, speed, occupancy and other trafficdata used in traffic management systems. This gives traffic managers a toolkit for mitigating roadway congestion by modifying traffic signal timing ordetecting incidents quickly.

[http://www.iteris.com/vvd.aspx Vantage] video detection camerashave been deployed by hundreds of agencies in 49 U.S. states, and in Asia, LatinAmerica, Europe, and the Middle East. The product is currently sold through anetwork of over 20 independent dealers in North America, Asia, Europe, and SouthAmerica.

Lane Departure Warning

Iteris developedthe [http://www.iteris.com/ldws.aspx AutoVue] LaneDeparture Warning (LDW) system to address a major cause of highway fatalities – unintended lane changes due to drowsy, fatigued or distracted drivers by issuing warnings to the driver in such situations.
