mountain , 2,280 m, standing 4 miles (6 km) north ofMount Frost at the north side of the head ofSilk Glacier in theChurchill Mountains . Named byAdvisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Lieutenant ColonelMichael Zinkovich ,United States Air Force (USAF), commanding officer of the 1710thAerial Port Squadron , which furnished airlift support betweenNew Zealand and Antarctica, and fromMcMurdo Sound inland to Byrd, Eights, andSouth Pole Station s during U.S. NavyOperation Deep Freeze 1962.
