Strategic Studies Group, commonly known as SSG, is an Australian software development company that makes
strategy wargame s. They are the creators of theDecisive Battles of World War II series which includes the gamesThe Ardennes Offensive game ,Korsun Pocket game , andBattles in Normandy game ,Battles in Italy game andBattlefront (2007).In the 1980s, Strategic Studies Group created popular war and strategy games for
Apple II ,Atari ,Commodore 64 , andIBM PC series of computers. Well-known titles included "MacArthur's War," "Reach for the Stars", "Carriers at War," "Rommel," "Europe Ablaze," "Gold of the Americas," and "Decisive Battles of the American Civil War" (in three volumes). Several of these titles were also released for 16-bit platforms including theAmiga ,Atari ST , andMacintosh during the late 1980s.In 1989 they published "Fire King" an action role-playing game developed by
Micro Forte , another Australian games developer.They also made the Warlords series of fantasy turn-based games. In a mutually friendly decision in
2003 , "Warlords" designerSteve Fawkner broke away from Strategic Studies Group and startedInfinite Interactive to publish further "Warlords" games.External links
