Robert Sean Leonard (born February 28, 1969 as Robert Lawrence Leonard) is an American actor.

Biography

Leonard was born in Westwood, New Jersey, and grew up in Ridgewood, where he attended Ridgewood High School [Klein, Alvin. Born "Robert Lawrence Leonard", the Screen Actors Guild notified him that the name "Robert Leonard" had already been taken. He chose his brother's name, Sean, in lieu of his actual middle name for his SAG membership.

He is a three-time Tony Award nominee (1993, 2001 and 2003), winning in 2001 (Best Actor - Featured Play) for his role as A.E. Housman in Tom Stoppard's "The Invention of Love". He also played Romeo Off Broadway in "Romeo and Juliet" at the Riverside Shakespeare Company in 1988.

Currently, he plays Dr. James Wilson, ex-head of the oncology department, on the FOX TV series "House".
